Eline Goffin
Eline Goffin graduated as a Master in Chemistry at KU Leuven in 2019, following her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry obtained at Hasselt University in 2017. During the second year of her Master’s studies she joined the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Wim Dehaen for her Master’s thesis, entitled 'Synthesis and biological evaluation of polyazaheterocyclic and isoquinoline based compounds as CXCR4 antagonists'. After graduating in 2019, she joined the Verwilst Lab at the Rega Institute for Medicinal Research to pursue a PhD in Drug Design and Development.
Her PhD project focusses on the development of small-molecule drugs as a potential CNS specific therapy in Alzheimer’s disease as well as the design of novel antiviral drugs that target HIV reverse transcriptase enzyme. Within her PhD project, several aspects of Medicinal Chemistry research are addressed, with a main focus on the synthesis of organic small-molecule drugs.
